Memorization

The memorization feature helps you build and maintain a personal library of Scripture passages to commit to memory.

INFO

You must be signed in to use the memorization feature.

Adding Passages

There are two ways to add a passage to your memorization library:

  1. From the reading interface — Select verses, then tap the Memorize button in the selection drawer
  2. From the Memorize page — Click Add Passage to open the passage selection dialog, then choose the book, chapter, and verse range

Organizing with Collections

Create custom collections (selections) to group related passages together. For example, you might create collections for:

  • Verses about faith
  • Passages for a study group
  • Memory verses for the week

Filtering and Sorting

Use the filter controls to focus your memorization practice:

Filter by Collection

Select a specific collection to show only passages from that group.

Filter by Book

Narrow down to passages from a specific Bible book.

You can also toggle punctuation checking to require exact punctuation in typed responses.

Session Results

After completing a session, you'll see a summary including:

  • Accuracy percentage
  • Time spent
  • Strength change for each passage

Memorization Strength

Each passage tracks your estimated recall probability on a 0–100% scale. Unlike a simple score, this value naturally decreases over time between practice sessions — just like real memory.

  • Regular practice keeps your strength high; long breaks cause it to fade
  • Harder practice modes (full word, speak) produce larger gains than easier modes (word bank)
  • Hard difficulty gives a 1.3× boost to memory stability on successful sessions
  • The system learns how difficult each passage is for you and adapts accordingly

Modes that update strength (word bank, first letter, full word, speak) adjust your recall estimate based on accuracy. Modes that don't update strength (tap to reveal, listen, flash cards) are useful for review without affecting your score.
